Freshman Delivers A Hat Trick To Provide Terriers With First Win of Season

Easton, PA - - -St. Francis (NY) forward John Sallhag (Vaxjo, Sweden) scored a hat trick to lead the Terriers to a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory versus the La Salle Explorers (0-2), on Sunday afternoon in the Puma Soccer Classic at Lafayette. 

Sallhag, a freshman, drilled home the game-winner on a penalty kick  just 1:08 into the extra stanza to deliver the first win of the young season.  On Friday, the Terriers dropped a heartbreaking 2-1 decision to Lafayette in the season-opener, despite leading for much of the contest.

Sallhag scored less than a minute into the game to stake St. Francis to a 1-0 advantage, but La Salle’s Kevin Lydic tallied at 50:27 to even the score at 1-1.

Sallhag again provided the Terriers with the lead, 2-1,  at the 59:48 mark, but the Explorers’ Ryan Richter forced overtime with just 2:43 remaining in regulation.

LaSalle outshot St. Francis by a 17-13 margin, but Terriers' keeper Chris Antonino came up big with ten saves.
