Brooklyn Heights, New York---The St. Francis College women’s swimming and diving team kicks-off the 2009-10 season tomorrow in the friendly confines of the SFC Pool. Tomorrow's swim is a Northeast Conference tri-meet against Wagner and Sacred Heart starting at 1:00 pm

The Terriers have a core group of 13 returning swimmers with Lianna Fotia (Nepean, Ontario, Canada, St. Paul) and Brandy Creek (Ventura,CA, Ventura College) named this year’s captains by head coach Brian Guidera. The Terriers are an experience bunch, with the likes of Ann Arbor, Michigan native Emily Matthews (Ann Arbor, MI, Huron) and two-time Northeast Conference Swimmer of the Week senior Sonya Jaggernauth (Port of Spain, Trinidad, Notre Dame Convent). Jaggernauth, last season, broke the Canisius pool record in the 50 Free with a stellar time of 24.55.

Head Coach Guidera will have three new weapons in his arsenal this season with the addition of Pamela Altamirano Alanis (Monterrey, Mexico, Itesm Garza LaGuera (in Mexico)), Paige Hardy (Aliso Viejo, CA, Chaparral HS) and Hanin Turkey (Ponte-Claire, Quebec, Canada)

This upcoming season looks very promising for us as a program,” says Guidera. “These are an amazing group of girls, who devote a lot of time in the pool as well as in the classroom. I am very proud to coach this group and look for consistent results all season.”
