SFNY looks to secure a spot in the postseason when the Terriers take on Fairleigh Dickinson tonight at Aviator Field before rounding out its 2009 regular season hosting Long Island on Nov. 7 at 7:00 pm. A win or a tie tonight would secure a spot for the Terriers.

In their lone contest of the week, the Terriers held on to salvage a 3-2 victory over Sacred Heart on Friday evening, improving their record to 9-5-1 overall and 6-1-1 in NEC competition...SFNY struck first complements of junior forward Greg Baum’s (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph by the Sea) second tally of the season in the 20th minute with the help of a well-placed ball from junior John Sallhag (Vaxjo, Sweden)...The assist was the fourth for Sallhag this year, which is tied for the team-high...In the 33rd minute, senior midfielder Semso Nikocevic (Brooklyn, NY/Sheepshead Bay) netted his first goal of the contest with a right-footed shot past SHU’s Alex Fait...Junior counterpart Jeverton De Lorenzi (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) and sophomore forward Tevin Jackson (Rosedale, MD/Eastern Technical) were credited with the assist...A second-half Pioneer rally knotted the score at two, but Nikocevic was in the right place at the right time in the 77th minute to deposit the eventual game winner off a rebound in the middle of the box.

In facing Long Island on Oct. 30, the Knights scored three goals in the first half and held on to record a 3-2 victory over the Blackbirds...FDU improved to 7-8-1 overall and 4-3-1 in NEC play heading into the final week of regular season competition...Sophomore Paul King (New Castle, England) started the scoring early, finding the back of the net in the eighth minute after firing from 14-yards out, marking King’s fifth tally of the season...Twenty minutes later, King created another scoring opportunity when he dished the ball to senior Fernando Huthmacher (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), who sent it over the goal line from 20-yards out to notch his third marker this year...The Knights took the 3-0 lead by virtue of a Blackbird own goal in the 32nd minute...LIU rallied in the second stanza, but the Knight defense was able to ward off any further Blackbird attacks...LIU held the edge in corner kicks, 6-5, and shots, 13-8...Junior goalkeeper Majdi Zaineh (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) manned the pipes for the first 57 minutes of action, grabbing four saves, while sophomore counterpart Juho Illi (Nastola, Finland) logged over 33 minutes in goal for FDU...So far this season, sophomore Dominic Reinold (Wesseling, Germany) leads the team with 20 points (tied for second in NEC) and eight goals (tied for second in NEC), while King is second on the squad with 16 points (tied for fourth in NEC)...King also paces FDU with six assists (tied for second in NEC).
