Riverdale, NY – The St. Francis College men’s swim team opened is season with a win after defeating the Manhattan College Jaspers, 125-77. With the win, the Terriers improved to 1-0 overall.
Lead by triple winner Freshman Leonardo Dupres (Bronx, NY), the Terriers went on to win 8 of the 11 events of the meet.
Dupres earned his first victory as a Terrier as a member of the 200 Medley Relay. The team of junior Dusan Milanovic (Belgrade, Serbia), junior Nemanja Simovic (Venture, CA) , Dupres and junior Boris Plavsic (Belgrade, Serbia) posted a time of 1:46.42 to win the 200 Medley Relay. Dupres continued his winning ways with victories in the100 Fly (55.00) and the 200 IM (2:07.66).
Sophomore Mark Salzillo (Staten Island, NY) was the Terriers other multiple event winner. Salzillo swam to victory in the 500 Freestyle (5:18.07) and 1000 Freestyle (11:07.73).
Milanovic had the race of the night; posting his personal best time in the 100 Backstroke. His time of 55.84 is only .2 off the team record. Simovic earned the last win for the Terriers in the 100 Breaststroke.
The Terriers return to competition on December 1, 2009 against Iona College.
