WOMEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING DEFEATS MANHATTAN FOR FIRST VICTORY OF THE SEASON

Riverdale, NY – The St. Francis College women’s swim team earned its first win of the season after defeating the Manhattan College Jaspers, 120-84. With the win the Terriers improve to 1-4 overall. 

The Terriers finished first in seven of the eleven scored events. The Terriers opened the night with a win in the 200 Medley Relay with their time of 2:00.02. The team consisted of Junior Dorota Lewandowski (Grover Cleveland HS, Queens NY), senior Brandy Creek (Venture College, Venture, CA), Junior Jemma Hinkly (Montreal, Canada / Alexander W. Dreyfoos Jr. School of Arts) and Senior Sonya Jaggernaught (Port of Spain, Trinidad, Notre Dame Convent).
 
Freshman Paige Hardy scored her first victory in her Terrier career in the 1000 free, touching the wall at 12:07.44. Sophomore Andrea Dolnay (Budapest, Hungary, St. Margaret HS) picked up wins in the 200 freestyle and the 500 freestyle. 

Senior Sonya Jaggernaught was the team leader with three wins on the night. Along with her relay win the Terrier Senior scored a first-place in the 50 freestyle with her time of 24.74 and in the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.80. Senior Captain Brandy Creek earn the final victory of the night in the 100 breast with a time of 1:17.29.      
 
The Terriers return to competition on December 1, 2009 against Iona College.
