WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO WAGNER, 78-64

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NEW YORK---
The Lady Terriers were unsuccessful against the Wagner Seahawks, falling 78-64 at the Pope Physical Education Center on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Terriers fall to 1-18 on the year and 0-8 in the Northeast Conference while the Seahawks now stand at 6-13 overall and 3-5 in the league. 
 
Wagner’s Ashley Olsen scored the first four points in the opening moments of the contest. The Seahawks stretched the lead to eight points, at 14-9. Terriers’ freshman forward Kim Snauwaert dialed up on a long range three-pointer, cutting the Wagner lead to three, 14-11 with 14:17 to go until halftime. 
 
The Terriers tied the contest at 25 after junior guard Shannon Gantt connected on two free throw attempts. The Seahawks stretched the Terriers’ defense, increasing the lead back to seven, 34-27, after the reigning Northeast Conference Co-Rookie of the Week Marie Archambault connected on three-pointer. The Seahawks took a nine point lead, 47-38, into intermission. 
 
Wagner controlled the tempo in the second half, expanding their lead to 20, 62-42, after Megan Mahoney connected on two free throw opportunities at the 11:58 mark. St. Francis got within 13 as Kayla Williams drained an opener jumper with 2:13 remaining in regulation. 
 
Autumn Lau finished with a Terrier high of 19 points and five rebounds while Gantt came within one point of tying her career high, finishing the contest with 13 points on 4-of-10 shooting and four steals. Four Seahawks finished in double-figures, with Ashley Olsen leading the way with 19 points and five rebounds on 7-of-10 shooting. Megan Mahoney found her range, finishing the contest with 17 points and seven assists. Archambault and Nyoto Patterson each added 10 points in the victory. 
 
The Terriers will travel to Western Pennsylvania to square off against the St. Francis (PA) Red Flash on January 28th. Wagner will return home to host Sacred Heart also on the 28th
