LORETTO, PENNSYLVANIA---The St. Francis College men’s tennis team picked up their first win of the season as well as first conference victory, as they defeated the St. Francis University Red Flash, 5-2 at the Ebensburg Tennis Center in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania.
The Terriers (1-11; 1-1 NEC) were able to take two-out-three matches in doubles as the tandem of Danlahdi Robinson/Tita Mba defeated Elahn Pogue/Nate Fleming 8-4 while James Brennan Tsang and teammate Daniel Gonzalez defeated Steve Child and Joe Bellisimo by the same mark, 8-4.
The Red Flash were able to take singles # 1 and 4 as Pogue defeated Robinson 6-3; 5-7; 7-6 and Child defeated Edward Alontaga in straight sets, 6-3; 6-2. Brennan Tsang pulled out a thrilling 6-3, 7-6 (7-4 tiebreaker) in singles # 2 while Mba took a 6-4; 7-5 victory in # 3 singles. Gonzalez claimed a 6-2; 6-4 victory against Kirby Mendes while Martin Grunin and Peter Dietrich’s match was halted due to darkness with the Terriers leading 7-5; 1-1.
The Terriers will next return to the court on April 5th against Wagner College in Staten Island for a 2:00 pm schedule start.
